This letterbox is on the Poo Poo Point Trail
Issaquah, Washington.
King County
alive and well as of 7/24/08
I decided to plant this letterbox to give everyone added incentive to go after the Poo Poo Point Letterbox. If you are a hiker like me, you need a little Catnap on your way up some of these steep trails!
Directions to trailhead:
Take Interstate 90 to Issaquah and get off on Exit 17. Drive south on Front Street and turn left onto Sunset Way. At Second Ave. turn right and pass Issaquah High School. The trail is on your left and it is not signed. There is room for three to four cars at the small parking area.
To the letterbox:
Hike the old railroad grade less than a quarter of a mile, then turn right on a short connecting trail that leads to an old road. At about a mile cross under power lines and continue uphill, look for the sign indicating the Poo Poo Point Trail forking off to your right (the Section Line trail forks off to the left).
The trail climbs through second-growth forest. At about 2 miles the trail enters Many Creeks Valley. Cross the first bridge and take approximately 100-110 steps, look for a stump on your left. The Catnap Letterbox is inside this stump underneath a sturdy rock. There are logs available for sitting on and stamping in at this location. If you reach the second bridge, you have gone too far.
Continue on this trail to reach Poo Poo Point and the Poo Poo Point Letterbox! Round trip to Poo Poo Point from the high school is about 5-1/2 miles with 2,000 feet gain. The Catnap Letterbox is about half way along this trail.
As always, be discreet and please rehide the box well, hidden from view
Please read the waiver of responsibility and liability.
