From I-5 south of downtown Seattle, northbound, take exit 163 (West Seattle, Columbian Way) staying left for the West Seattle Bridge. Follow it to the end and continue straight as it becomes Fauntleroy Ave. SW, curve left with Fauntleroy Ave. SW. In about 2 miles, you’ll see the park on your right. From I-5 north of downtown Seattle, southbound, take exit 163A (West Seattle, Columbian Way) on to the West Seattle Bridge and proceed as above. You can also follow the signs for the Vashon Island Ferry. It is at the Southern end of the Park. You will come to the park before you reach the Ferry Dock.
Both letterboxes are located along the main trail at the top of the bluff. From either parking lot head West to this trail.
Letterbox #1
Has been replaced as of 5/11/05
This letterbox is on the northern end of the bluff trail. From behind the Backstop of the baseball field to the Northwest (approx. 50 steps away) is a tree that is 4 in 1. Inside the crevice of this tree is Lincoln Park letterbox #1.
Letterbox #2 (Vashon Island Ferry)
alive and well as of 5/11/05
This letterbox is on the southern end of the bluff trail. Find the park bench with a view of the Ferry Dock.
There will be a plaque with this quotation:
“The best things in life come to you when you open your heart and eyes.” James Vinton Hartnett
From the Bench at 300 degrees is a Madrona tree. (These are the trees with the peeling bark)
At the base of this tree in its trunk is letterbox #2.
As always, please be discreet. This is a very busy park and these boxes are hidden along the main trail.
Use caution when reaching into crevices and dark places.
Also, read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
