She was a young wolf, only 13. She loved adventure, and became quite adept at climbing. She had been abandoned when she was a dibbun, because her parents didn't want their child to turn out as a corsair, as she was. She became skilled at fighting with her teeth and claws. She made a living in Mossflower Woods, killing off goodbeasts when she came across them. One day she saw a corsair ship land near the path to Redwall. She quietly followed the crew, hiding behind trees and bushes as she watched them. She watched them fight goodbeasts for food, and decided to help. The leader was a tough ferret with a staff, fighting a mouse with a staff. The mouse was obviously quite skilled, and threw the ferret backwards. Raye made her move then. She bounded out of the bush she was hiding in and bit the mouse on the neck. He fell and dropped his staff. Raye picked it up and walked over to the ferret. "Are ye alright?" she asked. "Aye, I'm fine, but...who the Hell are ye? I know yer not one o' me crew..." "Aye, I'm not. Me name is Raye Bloodstreak. I made it up meself, 'cuz me parents never gave me a name." "I'm Coldeyes." he nodded. She helped him stand. He looked at the staff she held. "Do ye know 'ow ter use one o' those without killin' yerself?" "Aye. I used to practice with ol' tree branches. Me last one broke over a mouse's head." "I see. Well, come on, Raye, we could use yer 'elp." "Aye." she looked at her new staff. There was a purple stone in the top of it. "Wow! I like this! This is a lot better than an ol' branch! This is much easier ter use!" They defeated the goodbeasts and took the food back to the ship. "Hey, Raye, why don't ye come with us? We live on an isle named Sampetra. We could always use another good fighter like yerself." "Sampetra, eh? Well, why not? I'll bet it sure beats stayin' around this place!" "Ye better believe it is! There are so many corsairs there, ye'll feel right at 'ome!" "Aye, I like the sound o that." She stepped onboard the ship and watched Mossflower fade into the distance as the wind filled the sails.
