Mission:
The ships at Sampetra had just all completed a refit and overhaul, the one thing that stood out the most were the large catapalts on each deck. These machines were designed to launch a boulder, chunk of wood, or hunk of metal at an opposing ship before it had a chance to attack, possibly launching crew or passengers into the sea in the form of slaves just waiting to be picked from the water. It also prevented the risk of being captured or boarded by the enemy. My ship, the Deathsail, received the last catapalt of any ship, and was the perfected design. News of 8 otter vessles heading towards Sampetra spread through the island quickley, so Ublaz sent the Freebooter, Bloodkeel, Waveworm, Sprayraider, Abyss, Assassin's Knife, and Deathsail on a mission to destroy the oncoming ships. We headed out to the open sea and anchored at a point that was a safe enough distance from Sampetra, but the action could still be seen from the remaining crewbeasts and Ublaz. We waited for one day, and then the next dawn they came. 8 large, bulky ships were heading right for us, packed with otters of every size and shape. All of our ships loaded large boulders onto our catapults, and aimed along the device. We waited untill we could see the surprised look on the otters faces, then the voice of a burly Fox yelled out, "THREE! TWO! ONE! FIIRRREEEE!!!!!" I pulled the lever and with a great whoosh, all the boulders were hurled into the air and into the decks of the otter ships. 5 were destroyed completely, exploding in a blast of splinters and canvas. The sixth ship split in half and sank in a matter of seconds. The seventh lost most of its stern, and had to be abandond. The eighth capsized, trapping its crew in a watery grave. What was left of the crew for the sixth and seventh boats were all lifted out of the water and now serve as slaves. When we returned, we were greeted with masses of cheers and kegs of grog and ale. The catapults were called a huge success, and even Ublaz himself came to the party that followed our success. We had a new weapon!
