Mission 266
by Nightshade Silvertooth the Assassin

Mission:
Taking the twoscore crew and ship as required, I began to make a loop around the Island to look for her. As I thought, she would hide in the jungles, not directly make a run for it on the open ocean. But she would hide near a water source. I looked through my maps to of the island. Three rivers, about 12 streams and a lake. This was not helpful. Which spot would she hide. Then I remembered what my mother used to tell me.

"To understand your enemy, you must think like your enemy."

I looked for the most secluded of the streams and found it, branching off of one of the rivers. Of course! A sensible fox would hide in the most secluded, hiden spot he or she could. I ordered the ship to drop anchor and I selected 1 and 1/2 score of the crew to the long boats. I climbed aboard one and we launched for the beach. The nearby river proposed no threat. She must have either hidden the boat in the river or had it abandoned in the ocean to go off and sink somewhere. When we reached the beach I led the vermin through a planned route to the stream. Like I thought, they were all hiding out on a small cove where the stream was waist deep. I ordered my crew to drop to the ground and I crawled forward, hiding myself among the ferns and watched them. They were all spooked, they knew that Lord Madeye's had sent a group to find them. They fox was fearless though, she spat out orders to keep a tightwatch. A rat was going around passing rations for the day.

I whispered to my crew to fall back and we crept our way backwards untill we were at a safe distance. I told them to prepare to attack shortly after nightfall, however, not to kill the fox.

When the time came I ordered the charge, we attacked the group and slaughtered many. The fox and I hacked our way to each other amidst everything. When we met our swords clashed. We struck back and forth at each other, none of the other vermin daring to intrude. In fact, the entire battle stopped as we fought. Slowly I gained the upperhand and knocked her sword away. I then jumped on her and hit her sharply on the skull with the handle of my sword, knocking her out.

"This battle is over!" I shouted.

Her vermin gave up and threw down their arms. I lifted the fox up and we marched the traitors back to the ship. Once everyone was aboard, I got their attention and woke up the fox.

"This is what happens when you betray your emperor!" I said.

I glared at the fox and pulled out my sword. She flinched slightly but spat at my feet. I cut her head clean off and chucked her carcass over board. And now, Lord Ublaz, I present you with the head of the traitor.
