Mission 276
by Rakesi

Mission:
On the good Ship Deathsail, my two commading officers, Kairo and Keltus, were having a discussion in a closed cabin. They had given me orders to take command for a few days while they went over some information. One day, while near this cabin, I overheared a conversation about two beasts, a stoat and a rat, that had gone missing and a chest of gold that went with them. Snargle and Nash were their names, and appearently Ublaz wanted their heads. This closed discussion went on for three days, and then on the fourth they both came out of the cabin. All they ordered was that we needed to get underway for a full island search of a stoat and a rat. The crew proceeded with the commands and I was taken into the cabin with my superiors. They told me the story and asked whether or not I wanted to help, for they needed an able bodied, young, agile ferret to hunt the traitors down and I was their first choice. I agreed. I was told to pick a small band of around 3 to help. I choose Akiskio and Akki. We first went to the south end of the island and the caves that were pock-marked around the coast. We went through every one and not one trace was found. We rounded on the west side of the island and to the big cove. Still nothing. We hit the north end of the island and there we found some blood and shards of wood. This could only be them. Myself being an expert tracker, and of course Akki and Akiskio helping, we determined that there had been a fight of some sort and the two thiefs had gone seperate ways. It looked as though Snargle had gone east, and Nash had gone west with the chest. The rat prints (Snargle's) ended up leading to a small cave, and there we found him, brooding. Silently we slew him, without a scream at all. Taking his head, of course. Then, Kairo, Keltus, Akki, Akiskio and I went after the stoat Nash. Moondeath was instructed to take the ship down to the jetty, for they were no longer needed. We set out west and found the tracks leading off the island. Grabbing a small boat from the nearby cove we set off to explore the waters around Sampetra. Reaching an island, we landed to find a pawprint. We were close. Breaking into a run, we crested the hill and I saw, ever so faintly, the stoat. Grabbing my longbow and quiver, I ran to the bottom of the hill, the others panting in my wake. I am known to be exceptionally fast, almost magically, and in no time at all, I was in range. Pulling back my bowstring, I sighted to my target and then something happened. I felt a sudden surge of energy like I could fly, and easily pick off the stoat. I did. Letting the arrow fly, it traveled faster than I had ever seen an arrow travel, and in the distance I saw one stoat's head fly right off. The crate, which was dropped by the fleeing stoat awhile back was recovered as well as the head. Mission accomplished.
