Mission:
The traitor Crimson Bloodeye had been anchored near the coast of
Sampetra for a few days now, ready to attack. There aren't many
remaining
soldiers at Sampetra left, so if the crews of Crimson were to attack,
it
would be a nearly hopeless battle on our part. Ublaz, our emperor,
called
me, Rakesi the Red, to his throne one day. "Rakesi, my friend. I know
that
you are a very faithful and loyal commodore, and I know that you are
trying
for the coveted rank of Vice-Admiral, so I am going to offer you a
deal." I
shifted nervously. "These traitors have put us under seige for quite
some
time now, and I need you to take care of them for me. If you
succesfully
deal with this scum, I will consider promoting you. But if you fail, I
will
demote you back to deck swabber!" I knew that this was a bittersweet
offer,
but I couldn't pass it up. I saluted smartly. "Sir!"
I went back to the harbor area, where most of the remaining
crewbeasts
and Monitors were milling about nervously. I called them to attention.
"Fellow crewbeasts! The time has come to destroy our enemies, the ones
who
threaten our lives! The traitor Crimson Bloodeye is planning an
attack, and
if we don't act fast, we will be killed by the ones that were once our
comrades!" Many of the crewbeasts were uneasy, but the Monitors,
always
eager for blood, joined right away. I decided that this was better
than
nothing, so I formed a plan with the Monitors to scuttle the ships,
kill the
captain, but keep the seabeasts alive, therefore possibly getting the
seabests of Sampetra to join or strikeforece, and also, it's not needed
to
kill our own numbers. I had a problem, though. The Monitors didn't
want to
swim to the ships, so if the other seabeasts didn't join my fight, I
would
need boats, which would seriously hamper our stealth capabilities.
The plan to attack was passed around the taverns in secret. All
who
wished to join me were advised to meet me at midnight on the jetty,
with
your weapons and some cord for climbing. I was pleasantly surprised by
the
number that arrived to help me. Our plan was to have the Monitors, who
were
piled into small dinghys, to climb aboard as initial shock troops,
followed
closely behins by my wave brethren to scuttle the ships and to get the
crews
offboard. I was going to personally deal with the traitor Crimson
Bloodeye
myself. At one in the morning, everything was set. The Monitors set
off in
their boats, while myself and the brethren swam to the ships. The plan
went
with a few bumps, though. Once aboard the ships, the Monitors were
surprised by the crews on board. They had become our enemies as well!
I
solemnly gave the order to have some of them killed as a warning. I
watched
as my troops got into position to scuttle the ships, and I clambered
aboard
the larger of the two vessels. There, I found the captain, waiting for
me.
He had his scimitar and hook ready.
I had counted on a sneak attack, so all I had was my latest
weapon, the
arm-knife; a long, extendable knife blade attached to a holster
strapped to
my left arm. At a twist of the wrist, the blade can pop out and be
used to
slash or stab. The Monitors and crewbeasts on the ship had gathered in
a
circle around us, urging the fight between their leaders to begin. My
opponet waved his hook menacingly, and then lunged. Thinking quickly,
I
twisted my wrist and sent the knife straight into Bloodeye's
treacherous
heart. There was a surprised look on his face as he slumped to the
ground.
His crewbeasts were all shocked, and immediatly they surrendured. I
waved
off the scuttling crews, and we sailed the ships back to port.
After a stern lecture, a harsh beating, a few punishments, and a
couple
of 'examples', the crews were sent to their bunks and to their half
rations
and double work for two weeks. I was sitting at my favorite table in
the
taverns, sipping ice water, and playing with my new toy, the arm-knife,
when
Dingeye the Stoat walked over to me. "So, how were things while my
ship was
away?" he asked.
I replied, "Oh, you know, same old same old...."
