Mission 304
by Rakesi the Red

Mission:
The Wave Brethren have reformed! The Monitors of Sampetra have all fled to the Palace, and they are taking refuge along with the Emperor and a few loyal subjects. The Brethren have set the castle under seige, and all that can be done at the moment is to wait. The Emperor Ublaz called his top officials to a council of war.

"My most trusted advisors, I have come to a point where I cannot alone defeat these rebellious wavescum!" said Ublaz, "I have recieved intelligence from my spies that the leader is a very dangerous Marlfox by the name of Yarrel. He is cunning, a good leader, and a dangerous fighter. I need my best fighters to assassinate him!"

All eyes turned to me. "I am the best fighter," I casually replied, "I have been in situations like this before and I know what to do. A Marlfox, eh? No problem. Just one word of advice, your Lordship,"
"Yes?" asked Ublaz, impatiently.
"Wouldn't it be wiser to capture their leader and kill him in fron of everybody?" I asked, "Not only would we be killing the leader, but we'd be putting an end to the Wave Brethren forever!"
"Exactly my point!" exclaimed Ublaz, "Now, destroy these whelps before I lose my patience!"

"Of course, my Lord." I replied. I excused himself from the table and marched into the mess hall, where everyone was eating. He sat down between a Monitor and strong-looking weasel. "Krazk," I said to the Monitor, "Group all of your Monitors into the main chamber at midnight. No questions!"
"Of courze, Rear-Admiral." said Krazk. I turned to the weasel.
"Bonetail, I need you to group up as many good archers as you can." I asked, "Meet me at the the main chamber at midnight!"
"Aye aye, 'Kez!" said Bonetail. I allowed myself a slim smile of satisfaction. This would be a sweet victory.
At midnight, the Monitors and archers grouped together in the main chamber. Many looked eager for blood. I addressed the group, "As you know, it is of extreme importance that we destroy the threat of the Wave Brethren.

Yarrel is the leader's name. We must come up with a way to kill him and to keep the crews alive! It would be too much of a waste to simply kill them. Now, as to the fate of Yarrel, I have decided that they are to be made an example of. Here is my plan: Yarrel is sure to have gaurd set up, so I will need the best archers. We will kill the guards and then our four-score Monitors will rush Yarrel and capture him. We will take him back to the palace and execute him. Understood? Good! Now let's move!"

The operation began farily smoothly. We found the camp of Yarrel, and twenty guards were dispatched with. Using as much stealth as a Monitor can have, the 80 or so lizards captured Yarrel. Unfortunately, a couple of lizards were killed by the Marlfox's mad efforts to break free, and when he realized he couldn't escape alone he blew on a small whistle and thirty loyal troops came to his rescue. Thinking quickly, I decided that it was most wise to kill Yarrel now while his crew was watching. Krazk held him still, and I twisted my wrist, revealing my deadly arm-knife. Yarrel went stiff with alarm, and I thrusted with the long knife.

My follow through was rather strange, considering I had stabbed at nothing at all! Only a Marlfox could escape like that, I thought. Then a sudden feeling fell over me. Without a second thougt, I whipped around and thrusted with all of my might with my sword-staff. There was a gasp of alarm as my blade went through someone. I looked down and saw one skewerd Yarrel, instantly slain. I retrieved my staff and looked up. The Wave Brethren had surrendered, to my surprise. We lead all of the Wave Brethren out of their hiding, displaying the head of Yarrel on a long pike, and we lead them to the Palace. Emperor Ublaz took the pike from me and admired at the head.

"Thank you once again, Rakesi." said Ublaz, "You have put an end to this rebellion and you have gotten me a new wall ornament!"

I merely bowed. "All in a days work, my lord."
