Mission:
Erlban. A pathetic little island covered with makeshift taverns and drunken creatures. It's amazing they are having a civil war, I figured they were to lazy to swing a sword.
Since the island of Erlban was nearby, we took a small corvette because we didn't need to carry supplies. We did stock up on cheap arrows and long spear for defense.
After we arrived at the shore of Erlban, we anchored and trudged onto the shore. Smoke billowed into the sky, telling me that a fire had recently started in the village. My troops and I casually walked through the town and into the governing building. Nobeast took notice of us.
Inside the 'palace' we found several beasts that looked to be nobility. The were startled when they finally noticed us and tried to run, but after a bit of coersion I convinced them to stay. I explained that I was an envoy of Ublaz and I was going to take the island for all it was worth, whether they liked it or not. We stalked out of the building laughing at the governers' faces.
Outside of the 'palace' we encountered a little opposition. The nobility had apparently dispatched their guard to dispose of us, but my two score of vermin easily cut down the force of pike-armed guards.
I broke my army into groups of five and perused the island for goods. My group came upon a cache of fine wine, but before we could test it, several beasts fell upon us. They slew two of my vermin before we knew what hit us, but I rallied my troops and we fought back. The marauders were monitors, and wore the tattoos that I had seen Ublaz's guards wearing. These monitors must have left the service of the Emperor.
I redoubled my fighting efforts against these traitors. My swords flashed in the sun as I parried, cut, and stabbed. Two more of my troops died, leaving one more and me. We had slain three of the monitors, leaving three.
The monitors swung their spears around and charged me. My mate threw himself at one, taking it down. I blocked one spear with one of my blades and chopped the head off of another one. The monitor with the decapitated spear thwacked me with the spar, and I blacked out.
I awoke to the smell of wine. It soon was accompanied by the sound of crashing waves. I looked around and found myself on our corvette, surrounded by my vermin. One explained the another one of my groups came up the monitors that had captured me and thrashed them. I was regained and brought to the ship.
I thanked the crew, and after taking an inventory of the goods we had stole, I told the crew to ship anchor and head out of the bay. We had just turned around as a brig came out of the mist. It didn't bear the flag of INSU, so I got a little worried. The brig started to deploy dinghies with beasts in them, and they started toward our corvette.
I told the crew to get the bows and arrows out. The little rowboats docked with our ship and threw grappling hooks up. We chopped the ropes and shot the raiders. I barked orders to the crew and our fast little ship set course around the brig. More rowboats appeared, but we dispatched them with our arrows.
With some luck, we avoided getting grappled by the larger ship. If I had more beasts, I would've tried to take the ship for the fleet. But I thought Ublaz would be satisfied with the spread we had gotten him.
