Mission 390
by Syther

Mission:
Word had been around the castle that they were being attacked by a horde of goodbeasts. 'Wow,' thought Syther, 'emperor Ublaz put me in charge of his army. I must be important.' This is what the wolf had been thinking as he paced around the caslte trying to think of an idea. It was the third day of this madness and the goodbeasts were cutting off their supply to the food. As he thought to himself, he decided, 'I think it is time to wadge war on these beasts. But i must not do it as something obious. They think we willl not attack. But we will.'

He stormed out of the room he had been sitting in with a new idea spawned into his head. He strolled down to captian Three claw and Split Nose. "Ive had an idea friends," he whispered, "This is what we will do...." The talking went into soft whispering as the captians discussed Sythers plan. That night the plan had been refourmed and put to work. The archers with flaming arrows were already to work. They took longbows to the towers to try to spot all the ships. A loud whisper told the archers that a lookout had found the ships. They were off to the west, away from any enemy camps. Now all that had to be done was in the making. A match was lit to a tourch, which in turn, lit the arrows ablaze.

Meanwhile there was more to the plan happening. Syther and his captians along with about 2 score of vermin from the castle were busy preparing a catapult. Out in the courtyard, they had found a elasticy tree, that bent easily. On the top of the tree, they had tied 5 large serving bowls. They filled them with wood that was put ablaze. They had aimed the tree twards the largest encampment of the enemy. Now it was up to syther to give the signal to fire the weapon.

The last job was the hardest part to plan. The two other sides, south and east, had smaller camps of enemy beasts, but they were, nevertheless, still a threat. So, syther had planned to send 2 score beasts to each side, sending them out the door. The two groups did the same thing. They were all armed to the fangs. The forces both split up into 4 groups, to take the camps from both sides. As soon as the signal was given it would be time for an attack.

Back in the court yard, Syther gave the signal. At his claws clicking together, the pile of flaming wood was launched. soon screams could be heard. the beasts looking down on the masacared schene gave a paws up. What they looked down on was a dreadful sight. Creatures were falling every which way. The tents that they were using were burning rapidly. Most of the creatures were dead, but some were running around trying to put out the fires. It was no use, the fire reined supreme and most of the creatures fled out into the open. Handing out bows, Syther sent a small force up to the walltop to pick off any survivors. There was a handful, about a score of unarmed creatures. Thinking better of the situation, Syther took a force out side. He was bearing chains. some of the newly found captives fled, only to be shot down to look like pincushions. After they went back into the fortress the had taken 16 slaves to present to Ublaz.

On the west wall, it was almost light from all the fire. It seemed that the east and south side attacks had worked, some creatures were fleeing back to burning boats. These unfourtnet creatures were picked off by arrows from the wall top. The masacar was over, but there was still beasts alive and running on the sands. By now, the sun was just edging its way into the eastern sky. The sight brightened up a little and the archers could see it was only their beasts on the shore now, screaming their war cry Sampetraaaa!!!!!!

At the end of the day their was a feast to celebrate the warriors and grive for the dead. The total count of dead was 13, but that was none in comparison that the woodlanders who they had challanged only had 16 living. At this ceremony, the slaves were presented to a very pleased emperor. He called a toast to Syther, and gave him a golden goblet in reward for his dutys.

The next days were spent restocking Sampetra. since they had run low on food so fast, the empire wanted to make sure that next time they would be ready for such a battle or threat. They collected the weapons from the shore, but there were not much. Most were charred or broken. With the feildds back in full stock, Syther thought to himself, 'Long live sampetra.'
