Mission 73
by Captain Mark Darknight of the Blackreef

Mission:
I Started this mission like any other that I have undertaken by selecting several other vermin to aid me in Mission. I then boarded the small scouting vessel I had been given for this mission and after checking to make sure that we had all the supplies that we needed we left in search of the missing vermin.

We began by making a quick sweep around the Island Of Sampetra and then decided that the most likely place for them to go would of been Mossflower. We began the long journey as soon as we could replenish our water supply. As usual it was a long and stormy ride cause me (a monitor lizard) to become very sea sick. I never thought I could be so glad to see a land infested with goodbeasts. I decided instead of makeing a man land camp that we would take supplies for several days and use the ship as our main base. I picked my good ol' mate Dryblood to be my search partner for the expidition into Mossflower woods. I gave the order for everyone to return in four days unless they ran into the missing vermin or the GOUSIM. With the order given many of the enlisted beasts said their lucky charms and chants and left on the journey. Dryblood and I went to the "most dangerous" area which was north. All of the other beasts put up far too much of a fight to force them to go any closer Salamandastran.

Dryblood and I only had to travel for several hours before coming across what appeared to be a camp site. WE thought little of it at first however when we saw a shred from what looked like a Sampetran Lieutenant's uniform we realized we could finally be close to our finding the missing crew. We looked for tracks and discovered several which appeared to be monitor lizards and some ferret and searat tracks as well. Now finally having some sort of a lead I decided that I would continue to follow the tracks as to not get any farther behind of the missing vermin. We followed the tracks to the entrance of a cave where all of the sudden the lizard and vermin tracks disappeared only to be instantly replaced with tracks of what appeared to be rats unlike the ones that live at Sampetra. I told dryblood to head back to the ship and to bring the rest of our vermin to the cave I had found as soon as he could. I then made a torch and decided to venture into the cave. The cave was cold and dark as most caves our. However, as I ventured further it gradually became warmer and even lighter. Eventually I did not even need my torch so I discarded it and went on. Soon I began to hear voices and screams as I continued so I decided to try to climb up on a ledge and contiue in a more stealthy approach. Soon I made it to the edge of the ledge and when I looked over I saw our missing vermin and had all my questions answered as soon as I saw the group of vermin dancing around ours. The Sampetrans were tied to long poles and appeared to of been beeten badly. I decided that there was no way I alone could free our captured shipmates so I went back to the entrance of the cave to wait for Dryblood's return. It was not long when Dryblood finally arrived with the rest of our vermin. I quickly laid out a plan to rescue the rest of the vermin. Although we were not quite as many as the capturors we were obviously much better fighters. I decided to use this to our advantaged by simply launching an all out attack with all but one of our troops who was to free the captured vermin so they could aid in our attack.

We began the attack and in minutes all of the enemy was dead. We carried the captured vermin back to our ship and sailed home to Sampetra.
