Comedy-Will is a rich loser who has done nothing in his life. He has had many dates, but none of them seem to last. Maybe it's his snobbish attitude? Nah. Must be his women. So he decides to sign up for a single parent class to meet some girls. He meets Suzie, a pretty and nice lady. They go for a "date", which is a class picnic. They must drag Suzie's friend's twelve-year-old son along, and pretty soon Will and Marcus become "friends". However, when something bad happens to Fiona (Marcus' mom), Marcus must depend on Will for someone to lean on while Will must learn the ways of life from Marcus.
9/10-The best film that I've seen this year. It has a perfect mix of comedy and drama. It had a great cast and a great script and great performances. Something that made me love this so much is its way of turning seriousness into lighthearteness. Sure, it has some serious overtones, but that's the charm to it. Not everything is as it looks. Will is a pretty shallow guy, but he grows as a person. Marcus grows as a kid. Overall, it is an awesome film (I can't think of any other word to describe it!) and it is NOT a romantic comedy. It had some love-ooh! Find me a movie without a love story.
Rated PG-13 for language and thematic overtones.
