Please note: I saw this movie in pieces, so my review might have been different if I saw it all in one piece.
Action/Drama-Maximus is a strong general. However, when Emperor Marcus Aurelius appoints him Emperor instead of his son Commodus, Commodus kills Marcus Aurelius, and declaring him Emperor. Commodus then sends Maximus to be killed, and his wife and son crucified. Maximus escapes (what else) and comes back to Rome a slave. There he makes friends and fights, proving himself once more to be strong. Now, Maximus must kill for other's pleasure while defying Commodus and Rome while falling in love (what else?)
7/10-A fine, but not Best Picture worthy, film. Acted well, sometimes overacted, but had to throw in a stupid love story in it. The real life facts of the Colleseum are as true as I know, but in some wide shots inside, the Colleseum looked like a baseball stadium. Not as bloody as I thought it would be. It was also quite predictable.
Rated R for gladiatorial fights and murdering people.
