What are the basic differences between styles of music?
1. Rhythm
2. Instrumentation
3. Purpose

-Western music and western based styles haave a big emphasis on harmony, or the way tones sound when
when heard at the same time. The harmony controls the melody. And the evolution of Western/
Western based styles has always been one of harmony.

-Eastern and eastern based styles have lotts of improvisation and more variety in rhythm when
compared to the West. Harmony isn't as much of a concern. Melodies are heavily decorated
 and rhythm is elastic.

-Western and Eastern combined in teh Ameriicas. Country, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Latin, and all other
variations of each style are combinations of Easter and Western elements.
