The Story of Sanctuary…
There she was tiny and frail
Alone from the beginning to live or die
Huge where the odds in the great magnitude
of life.
Young and lost abandoned inside
gunsteel blue eyes and a soul encased.
Enough tears to create her pinch of salt,
a faded dress and folded hands
a silent wall and a childhood in tatters
she hoped and she dreamt she closed her eyes
and saw what she wanted to be.
Her years came gently but the blades of
living left her vulnerable and bleeding.
Her pain carried on the wind and summoned
the demons who flew in on her, one by one
they all took her sweetnesseach the tinniest
piece...
Living for tomorrows as they are so much
better than yesterdays...
Echoes in her ears only she could hear never
a whisper outside her own mind, no solace from
the eyes of another, no words could lift the
weight coming down on her better to broaden
her shoulders and bare her fate...
Time stumbled on in jagged and unsteady steps.
Days piled one on the other bending her
resolve with her knees.
The pain calling the demons, so willing to
oblige its call...
How sated they where to gnawed on the rare and
delicate bones of her desperation and fright.
So tired and beaten inside, the light in her
eyes withered long ago.
The sound of her sobs for lullabies desolate
nights and cruel unending days.
Alone and empty the gulch that was her soul.
Nowhere to turn but inward...
Sitting in a glass room looking out at yet
another day her mind moved by music She felt
a light filter in...
Her heart moved in her chest as her hands
reached out to help another and find a solace
for them, in it she found solace for herself.
She felt a tear dry and the drop of blood
that hit the floor was the last before she
bled no more...
She found it...
She felt it...
She became it...
