A Place In the Universe
Loneliness fills my soul
I am but a grain of sand lost in the sea
Amid the universe of other stones and pebbles.
I am but one person standing alone
Against the magnitude of the cosmos,
Lost in the multidude of humanity.

Insignificants overwhelms me
What can I, as one, contribute to the betterment of mankind?
One person alone cannot change the course of history...can he?
Or is it a combination and chain of events
That contribute to "being in the right place at the right time"?

Is all preordained by a higher power?
Can one lonely soul alter events?
Minds grow and develop, choosing either good or evil to prevail.
Unlike the small grain of sand which can never again return to its former state of a pebble or stone,
Man can reach for greater things and not regress.
Though alone and unimportant amid the galaxy,
Hope and promise are kindled in my heart.
For I will strive for a higher degree
Of intellectualism and brotherhood for all mankind,
Beginning with myself.
Life's Tides
Rippling waves continuously march toward shore on the incoming tides,
going nowhere--
only to lap against the sand and cease to be.
Fragile sea foam shimmers in ghostly form and disappears without leaving a trace.
