Bear the Cross Matthew 16:24, Mark 16:15 |
Background song: Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone? I feel the world around me growing colder Is there nothing I can do to make it stop? People live their lives in sickness, pain, and death. Others look upon them with contempt upon each breath. Children cry for lack of food-families are torn apart. Lives are lost and wasted from deceptions of the heart. These are the bitter battles of a dying world-a world without a God- A world of hopeless agony with each step man would trod. A world without a God of peace, of mercy, love, and grace- Never feeling tender love burn from a Savior's face. It's a world without the comfort that only He can give- Or knowing the joy of having a life worthy to live. They fill their lives with peace that will only pass away When trials come and rain falls upon their troubled way. It’s a world of constant bitterness filled with an empty ache That, unless by a mighty hand are turned, will surely end in death. I must spread the good news of a Savior from above- It is my call and honor to warm this land with love: It is God's love that spans all time and space that I can not deny And I must reach the lowest depths before my time is nigh. What love would cause a man to die so other souls could live? Could any other Man be found who for these His life would give? No love like this will ever been found- And no one could ever love enough to do the same. It is a cross that has made all the difference-but a cross is a cruel thing. And who would take upon himself the torture that a cross would bring? Ah, but I a cross do have-though not the cross He bore. See there's a world around me that's dying just the same. And in my heart I have the answer-the only answer. To share this love that was given to me-it seems a fearful task. Then I think of my Savior and Lord-fearful for him, dare I ask? He did not turn away from the call-why should I be so at ease? Should Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free? No-there's a cross for everyone-and there's a cross for me. I feel the world around me growing colder. The thing that I must do is bear the cross. |
