Knowledge of various telecom technologies: Access network, V5.2 interface, PSTN networks, TCP/IP PON, TDM/TDMA, TCP/IP, Voice over IP, SDH SONET, GSM, CDMA, VPN, LAN
Professional Experience Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) as Research Engineer (software) since 3rd Aug 1999.
1. Project Name: C-FITL (C-DoT fibre in the loop) Its Passive optical based access network which will be replacing the copper wires in the local loop(between local exchange to subscriber). We divided it into two subsystems : HDT: Host digital terminal will be put in local exchange premises, which has all controlling powers. ONU: Optical Network Unit, which is placed in the field and termination point of our access network
V5.2 protocol: C-FiTL is connected to Local exchange via V5.2 interface, which has five protocol, naming link control, bearer channel control, pstn, protection and control protocols. Protection protocol which takes care of link failure on which all protocols run. When primary link, on which all protocols run fails, protection protocol automatically switch the secondary link on which only protection protocol runs in place of primary link. Protection protocol of this stack was designed and developed my me. I was also involved in integration of all the protocols of V5.2.
LAPD : We are using links between cards for communication based on HDLC and UART, upper layers have been implemented using LAPD. I have got experience of implementing and testing of this protocol.
LMI Protocol: To control whole system, GUI is the indispensable part of any system. we have developed LMI_PROTOCOL for communicating with NMS through RS232 link. |

M68302 micro controller: It is a micro controller from Motorola which has 68000 as core processor and a RISC communication processor. The implementation and stabilization of this device driver was one of the major and difficult part of this system as all cards are having at least one M68302.
Munich32 (Multichannel Network Interface Controller for HDLC): The Multichannel Network Interface Controller for HDLC (MUNICH32) is Multichannel Protocol Controller, which handles up to 32 data channels of a full duplex PCM highway. It performs layer 2 HDLC frmatting deformatting. It has 32 channels and 32 timeslots each of 64kbps, It gives variable data rate depending upon the number of timeslots assigned to a channel. So one can achieve following combinations: - Single channel with data rate of 2.048 Mbps( 64kbps*32 timeslots makes 2.048 Mbps) - 32 channels each with 64kbps data rate.
Fault Management: We have our ONUs spreading at long distances in the field so we need to have fault management which can report all the faults (alarms) happening in HDT(Host Digital Terminal) and ONUs so that it can be sorted out as soon as possible. I designed fault management for whole system which is based on object oriented approch. BootUps and Diagnostic Routines: Design, development and testing of boot-up and self-diagnostics software for 2 types of boards in C-FITL system. The system initialization module is responsible for bringing boards to a stage where software applications can be started. Besides individual board -diagnostics, it also performs several data-path tests on whole system, during first-time installation. The boards use Motorola M68302 and M68040 processors. Integration Of HDT: I was one of the members of intergration team of HDT, which was started from testing of communication links among various cards and ended after making first call.
2. Current Project: Gigabit PON (study phase) It is optical fibre based broadband access network which will provide following services
-Virtual Private Network -Gigabit Ethernet
