Sharks Take Broadway
March 23, 2006
The game could have tuned out a lot differently in the Sharks penalty kill wasn't at its best. They killed of 7 power plays of the Rangers as the Sharks went on to win 3-1 Thursday. Jocelyn Thibault made his second consecutive start and earned his second win of the year.
Jocelyn Thibault had his 2nd consecutive start, and win on Thursday. Leading the Sharks to a 3-1 win and earning the games 1st star by turning away 23 shots in the process.
He turned away 23 of the 24 shots he faced, earning him the games 1st star. Matt Stajan snapped his 12 game goal scoring slump with his 1st period tally, glove side on Dan Cloutier. Then before the 1st period was over Martin St. Louis scored his team leading 9th goal and extended his point scoring streak to 8 games. The 2nd period went back and forth with both teams having great scoring chances. The only goal of the period came off of the stick of Trever Letowski. Into the 3rd now, and its one the Sharks might want to forget. They didn't play disciplined hockey and tooke many stupid, and foolish penalties. In total they took 10 minutes in penalties in the 3rd period alone.  Alyn McCauley did manage to score a shorthanded goal though all of this, set up by a nice stretch pass from Jay Bouwmeester. Brad Richards added an assist in the game to leave him at 21 points on the year sitting him tied for second in league scoring only behind Mats Sundin who has 25. The Sharks now fly home from the Big Apple to take on the other New York team, the Islanders. The Sharks lead the season series 4-1. Look for Belfour to see action again after getting a few days off.
