Brief Summary

The Sapporos sister car, The “Starion Turbo” continued on sale in the UK until 1990. In Europe, and UK in particular many people started to purchase hot hatches and 4WD Jeeps instead of larger “Coupes”, and although Honda and Toyota continued to sell quite well with the Preludes and Celica, Colt, by now called “Mitsubishi” did not have either the Image nor were they allowed to Import the same amount of cars due to the “Quota Restrictions” on Japanese cars sales.

I’m about to conclude this “History” section and hope your not too bored! A couple of points of Interest that I omitted to mention earlier; In the UK in September 1984 “Colt’s” became badged “Mitsubishi”, so the last few Mk 2 “ Sapporos” were named “Mitsubishi Sapporo 2000 Turbo”.
