Tetras are a great starter fish, and are recommended for cycling your tank. They are fairly harty fish and are easy to care for. Tetras can be a peaceful community fish, but I have seen otherwise. My friend and I bought a Black Skirt Tetra and a Betta for a 10gallon tank. After only about half an hour in the tank together the tetra attatcked the betta killing him. I have also heard stories of Neon Tetras also killing a betta. It could be that certain strains of tetra are just more aggressive than others, as my friend had Flame tetras and mollies in a tank together without incident. Certain tetras are easier to breed that others, so I would recommend extensive research if you are planning to bred tetras. All tetras are egglayers and it is suggested that you remove the parents from the tank where the eggs are. I have never owned any tetra so I have almost no advice in this area. I will try and get some more information soon and post it. Temperature - 75-78 degrees F Feeding Recommendation - Total Tropical Flake Food, Community Bites, Freeze Dried Plankton (supplement), Freeze Dried Tubifex (supplement) Breeding - Egglayers |
