Leilah Tov
(a children's lullaby, from the Hebrew)
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, we've had a beautiful day.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, we've had a beautiful day.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, all G-d's children are good.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, all G-d's children are good.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, good night [name of child].
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, good night [name of child].

You might want to add your own verses, as I have added mine:

Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, your mommy so proudly loves you.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, she cuddles you close in her heart.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, in heaven we'll meet again soon.
Go to sleep, pleasant dreams, not even time will pull us apart.
If you write any, I'd love to read, and, with your premission, share them!]

Why G-d Takes Children
Author Unknown
When God calls little children
To dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometimes question
The wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares with,
The death of one small child,
Who does so much to make our world,
Seem so wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
The aged to His fold,
So He picks a rosebud
Before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
And so He takes but few,
To make the land of heaven
More beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
Still somehow we must try,
The saddest word mankind knows will always be Good-by.
So when a little child departs,
We who are left behind
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.

The Mention of Her Name
Author Unknown
The mention of my child's name
May bring tears to my eyes,
But it never fails to bring
Music to my ears.

If you really are my friend,
Let me hear the beautiful music of her name.
It soothes my broken heart
And sings to my soul.

The Sitting Time
Author Unknown
Don't listen to the foolish unbelievers who say forget.
Take up your armful of roses and remember them,
the flower and the fragrance.
When you go home to your sitting in the corner by the clock,
and sip your rosethorn tea.
It will warm your face and fingers,
and burn the bottom of your belly.

But as her gone-ness piles in white, crystal drifts.
It will be the blossom of her moment,
the warmth of your belly,
the tiny fingers unfolding,
the new face you've always known
that has changed you.

Take her moment, and hold it as every mother does.
She will always be your daughter.
And when the sitting is done,
you'll find bitter grief
could never poison the sweetness of her time.

All In A Lifetime
Edgar A. Guest ©1938
"I'll lend you for a little time a child
of Mine," He said,
"For you to love the while he lives
and mourn for when he's dead,
It may be six or seven years, or
twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back,
take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden
you, and shall his stay be brief
You'll have his lovely memories as
solace for your grief.

"I cannot promise he will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down
there I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over in
my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd
life's lanes I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
to take him back again?"

I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done."
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
we'll love him while we may
And for the happiness we've known
forever grateful stay;
But shall the angels call for him
much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand."

Angel Wings
©Charolotte Eiland
Angel wings lifting high,
taking prayer to God for you and I.
Whispers of rustling around the throne,
angel thoughts how they've grown.
Always eager to protect and guard.
Watching us like children, Playing in the yard.
Angel voices soft and sweet.
Cast each prayer at our Saviours feet.
Is that a brush of an angels wing I feel?
While in prayer, I reverently kneel?
Hovering right by my side,
Bringing God's instruction, to gently guide.
These heavenly beings full of light
Truly God's miracles in flight.
Angels, angels all around
from here to heaven they abound.
Sit quietly and listen for them to speak
if it is wisdom that you truly seek
Once again I kneel and pray
for friends and loved ones in need today.
Angels to heaven quickly fly
Watching over you and I.

The Dash Between The Dates
Author Unknown

The service was over now,
All had left and I was alone.
I began to read the names and dates
chiseled on every stone.
The dates which showed whether
it was Mom or Dad,
Daughter or Son.
The dates were different,
but the amount the same,
There were two on every one.

It was then I noticed something,
It was but a simple line;
It was the dash between the dates.
Placed there, it stood for time.

All at once it dawned on me
How important that little line.
The dates placed there belong to God,
But that line is yours and mine.

It is God who gives this precious life
And God who takes away;
But that line between, he gives to us
To do with what we may.
We know that God has written the first date down
Of each and every one,
And we know those hands will write again;
For the last date has to come.

We know He will write the last date down,
And soon, we know, for some.
But upon the line between my dates,
I hope He will write "Well Done."

Welcome Home
Author Unknown
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You musn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess
how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part.
So bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear
all of my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say:
"WELCOME HOME"

Afterglow
Author Unknown

I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times and laughing
times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who
grieve, to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave
when life is done.

One Sweet Day
Author Unknown

Sorry I never told you, all I wanted to say,
And now it's too late to hold you,
'Cause you've flown away, so far away.

Never had I imagined,
Living without your smile,
Feeling and knowing you hear me,
It keeps me alive,
Alive
And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day.

Darling, I never showed you, assumed you'd always be there
I took your presence for granted, but I always cared
And I miss the love we shared

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day.

Although the sun will never shine
I'll always look to a brighter day
Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
You will always listen when I pray

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day.

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say.
