I Am Not A Rock            Sarah D  1997

I am not a rock, though I've tried to be
Strong immovable doing what pleases me.
I simply cannot survive this life alone.
I need help from many sides, I know.

When school ruled my day, I didn't want to show
The way it hurt inside when ridicule they'd throw.
I am not a rock, though I've tried to be
Strong immovable doing what pleases me.

A smile from a neighbor, a wave from a friend.
A kind word from anyone; strength to me sends.
A hug from a loved one, a rainbow in the sky
Gives me hope and the will to try.

I am not a rock, though I've tried to be
Strong immovable doing what pleases me.
I simply cannot survive this life alone.
I need help from many sides, I know.

Now the time has flown and grown up I must be,
Still when I am hurt I want no one to see.
I pretend I'm fine when tears flood every breath.
Live a lie, get what you get!

I am not a rock ...
I am not a rock ...
I am not a rock!
