The Sexual Assault Response Center (SARC) provides free awareness and educational programs for professionals, schools and the community. From July 2000 through June 2001, SARC provided over 360 programs for more than 15,500 participants, primarily youth, in the Northeast Tennessee region.
We strive to engage participants in an open and honest discussion about attitudes and concerns surrounding various issues. Our goal is to increase awareness about sexual assault and the issues connected with it, including risk reduction, rape culture, self-esteem, and sexual harassment.
Further, we can select a time and topic of discussion tailored to your needs. Our hours are flexible and we work with your schedule. We adjust our programs for age and audience appropriateness. Staff members have provided presentations for groups ranging from fifth grade students and at-risk youth to professionals such as medical staff and teachers.
SARC also offers an informational booth display for community events, health fairs and other events. Booths include pamphlets about a variety of issues related to sexual assault.
The Value of Education
We at SARC believe that education is the key to change. Educational programs not only provide information and raise awareness, but offer valuable knowledge participants may apply in their own lives. If we do not offer a particular program, we will connect you with an appropriate agency.
