Remove buddy list ads.
Removing the ads from appearing on the AIM Buddy List.
1. Go to your AIM directory (c:\program files\aim95\) or wherever you installed AIM to.
2. Delete the file "advert.ocm".
3. Rename the file "admin.ocm" to "advert.ocm".
4. That's it!

Scrolling Marquee Directory Info.
How to make your directory info scroll.
You know that directory info in the AIM profiles, well there is a cool trick that allows it to scroll.
1. Go to Edit Profile and the "Searchable Directory" will come up.
2. Enter in the zip code box. You can enter whatever else for the other boxes.
3. Now when people check your directory info it will scroll. Play around with entering stuff in the boxes to discover more secrets.

Annoy the heck out of all the people on your buddy list.
Make your buddy's A: drive spin.
Make buddy's floppy disk turn round and round.
1. Direct connect to buddy.
2. Copy the text below into a notepad file.
3. Highlight and copy.
4. Press Control+V in the IM as many times as you want.
5. Hit enter.
Warning: As many times as you press Control+V your drive will spin around first before it goes to buddy's. So don't make it too long.

How to alphabetize your buddy list.
1. Sign on AIM.
2. Click on List Setup
3. Right click on a group.
4. Select Sort Group.
5. Repeat for each group you want to alphabetize.

Send an IM while sending a file in DC.
Annoy everyone on your buddy list.
Send IM while sending file over direct connection.
1. Open a new IM window while sending the file.
2. Type in your buddy's SN and add "!" to the end of it.
3. Type in your message and send it.

Be away without the away sign by your name.
How to go away without the away sign by your name
What this does is allow you to go away without you having to have an away sign by your name on your buddy list.
1. Go to My AIM on your buddy list. Then Edit Options, and then Edit Preferences.
2. Go to the 'Privacy' tab and uncheck '... how long I've been idle'
3. Now go to the 'Idle Message' tab and check 'When Idle auto respond with:'
4. And go ahead and type in whatever you want your away message to say in that box below.
5. Now if you go idle for at least 20 minutes away from your computer, and someone IM's you, it'll auto respond with that message.

Display a fake away message.
Put up an away message and talk at the same time.
1. Open Edit Preferences.
2. Go to the Away Message tab.
3. Select an away message you want people to see.
4. Hit 'I'm away' in the away tab window, then hit enter to close the away message.
5. Rotate this cycle very fast and the away message should stick.
6. Now you can exit the preference menu and you will be away on all your buddy's lists. Your away message will show in your profile, but not when a person IMs you.

How to put a line through the middle of your text in AIM
1. Open Notepad
2. Type in ____ (Replace ____ with anything)
3. Copy #2 from Notepad and paste it in AIM.
4. Hit Enter.

Annoy everyone on your buddy list.
1. Go to My AIM --> Edit Options --> Edit Preferences and then click on Privacy.
2. Click "Block all users" then hit apply. Then click "Allow all users to contact me" then hit apply.
3. Repeat this process over and over to make yourself sign on and off reapeatedly on all your buddy's lists. Believe me it will drive your buddy's crazy after just a few times. He he....
Alternative Method with AIM 5.5+
Sign on with the new version of AIM, and then click the top eyeball button, and keep pressing it over and over, signing your name on and off. This will drive your buddies NUTS.
