FAQ
Q: If Ayumi is in Japan... how come nobody is speaking Japanese?
A: Can you speak Japanese? Well, I can't yet. So until I translate my comic in to Nihongo, just use your creative imaginations to pretend Ayumi and the gang ARE speaking japanese.
Q: What are Ayumi's hair secrets? How is it so red? So shiny? So point at the ends?
A: Well, I could say Ayumi wakes up at five every morning to touch up her artificially red hair with Loreal Red Dye (38), then appliers a thick glaze that both produces a shiny glow and spear like ends on Ayumi's hair. Or i could simply break the truth to you very gently that this... is a cartoon character!
Q: Does Saru Springs really exist?
A: I couldn't really say. All I know is that if you look up "Japanese hotsprings" on google, you'll find a bunch of images of monkeys in hot springs.
Q: In a lot of mangas/animes, the character's names have meanings that refelct the characters. Is that the case for Happy Year?
A: "Ayumi" means "to walk one's own path" or something similar, which reflects Ayumi's independance. "Saruko" means "monkey child" which represents Ayumi's silliness as a child. I just liked the sound of the other character's names.
Q: What's the longest word in the dictionary?
A: Supercalifragilisticespialidocious (Antidisistablishmentariasm)
Q: Why monkeys?
A: Not only are monkey's the funniest and cutest creatures in the world, but my dad used to call ME monkeygirl. Sigh, it's true what they say, life imitates art... or vice versa.
