The Story What do you get when you accidently add crossdresing monkeys, mini aliens, jelly penguins and every other unnatural occurance to the classic formula for a tangled teen romance manga? Unfortunetly not three superpowered little girls who can clean up after the altered mind of Rae, your resident writer and illustrator. Happy Year is the story of a girl, Ayumi Summers, who is forced to live with extended family in a small hot springs village in Japan. Ayumi's planned to spend the entire year earning and working towards a scholarship to an American college, however all Ayumi's plans get botched when she encounters family, new friends and crazy circumstances creating adventure, drama and tons of laughs.
Okay, now that I've written the summary to go on the back of the manga when i publish it (^_^), let me give you the author's view.
I created Happy Year for the sheer fun of it. I love it! If you don't, well, too bad. I've always loved reading mangas and watching animes,
and I've always wanted to create one of my own. SO I decided the first would be an experiment, mixing classic romantic and serious themes
with goofy cliches, myths, and just plain wierd stuff. I guess if Happy Year has been influenced by anything, it's Love Hina. Yeah, there
are a few similarities, but I make my stuff as original as possible. The again, everything has already been done at least once!
