My dad, Jasper (J.B.) Bennett was born in Screven, Ga., on Jan.3,1893. He is 107 years
old today, and lives in Tifton, Ga. He very much wants to locate the cemetery where his
infant twin brother was buried. Death date would have been Jan.3-6,1893, and we never knew
a name (if he was named). My dad's parents are buried in the Carter Cemetery on the
Screven-Odom Highway. There are several unmarked graves there, but we don't know if his is
one of them. The Wayne Co. Courthouse doesn't have records that date back that far, I was
told by them today. Where could I obtain a listing of people buried in Wayne Co.
cemeteries (in that area)and in that time frame? I would very much appreciate any help
that anyone can give me.Thanks.

My grandmother is Creasy Cribbs. She is the daughter of Isom Cribbs and Creacy Lee
Cribbs. They were from Billy's Island in the Okefenokee Swamps. I am interested in the Lee
family. I saw the pictures on the web site of several of my grandmother's uncles but why
is there no registry of these people. My grandmother insist that there is indian blood
there. There is supposed to be a story called the "Lee Scandle". It seems
strange that there is no census records of the Lee's from the island, no war records, no
mortality records, etc. Perhaps they were assimilating. Why was the Island my
grandmother's family came from named after Cheif Billy Bowlegs (Billy's Island)? Could
this be where the Indian Blood roots comes from? If anyone or you know of anyone who could
inlighten me and help locate my heritage please HELP ME!

I am looking for the father of Rufus Atwood Strickland, Eugenia Ophelia Strickland, and
James Preston Strickland. I believe their father is JAMES ARNOLD STRICKLAND. Their mother
is MARY ELIZABETH STREET. On the 1860 Wayne Co., GA, Census, Mary Strickland is living
with her mother, Parmilla Street. This is listed as household #84. Three houses down (#87)
lived James A. Strickland, who is married to Jane Martha (nee Bryan). As I cannot find the
elusive James Arnold Strickland anywhere, I'm beginning to believe that the James A.
Strickland down the road was their father. Can anyone help me with this? On the 1860
census, Rufus is listed as 3, Eugenia as 2, and James as 1 y/o.

Thanks for the help from all you people that contacted me. I now am connected all the
way to Thompson Harris. I have had some nibbles about a Thompson Harris that was given
Land through a landgrant by a Lord Granville in the Carolinas, and I found mention of a
Will of a Thompson Harris, Sr. in Guilford Co. No. Carolina, but I can't connect them. I
wonder it Francis H. Harris Lt. Col. in revelutionary Army, 1st Ga. Bat. is in any way
related with Thompson. There was also a William Harris in a Ga. Bat., could he have been
the William Thomas Harris that was a Settler and Soldier with Gen. James Oglethorpe in

I wonder if you have any information on a Walter Howard Wainright. He married Kathleen
Heffernon Dower Hall on August 10, 1921. I think the marriage was in New Orleans, La.
There were no children and he died in 1931. He is buried here in New Orleans, La. Kathleen
Wainright was my grandmother's sister. She did extensive research on her maternal line but
we have very little information on Wainright . I looked through your website but I didn't
see anything. Kathleen was originally from Brewton, AL. She traces back to a William
Burgess who came to Pike County, Al around 1820 from Dutch Fork, SC. The only other thing
I know is that Wainright may have worked at the Ford plant here in New Orleans.

as Grantor of 400ac. in Bedford Co. Va. to William Heath Grantee in 2/21/1757. This could

Great Web site. The best of any county in Georgia. I am trying to locate the
Conner/Connor family. I am a native of Wayne Co.. I am looking for info on James and Desta
Conner/connor, the are my Great-Grandparents. I can't find when and where James died and
was buried. Desta later married Patrick Casey, not documented. James and Desta's children
were James J. in Wayne Co. Harvey is buried in Moody Cemetry in Wayne County. So is his
wife Lucinda (Lizzie) Stokes Conner. Harvey died in 1918 and Lucinda in 1960. Harvey and
James J. were tax payers in Wayne County in 1909, according to the tax records in Jesup
Courthouse. Desta Casey is listed in the 1910 census in Wayne County. Would like to know
date of death, etc on both of these. Will share info I have with anyone interested. Thanks

I am looking for any information on a Walter Rawlins that may have been buried in Ware
County. He came from Dodge County, had a store in the Ben-Hill area during the depression
and moved to the Waycross area. I do know he was born 1986 and had two wives (1) Sara
(Nora) Harrell who died in a tragic millsaw accident and (2) Sara Goodwin. I have that he
and Sara Goodwin had a daughter, Betty, but I'm not sure of that info. I also know that
Walter was the son of George Washington Rawlins of Dodge County. Any information will be
appreciated. Sheila Rawlins

I am searching for information about my MOZO ancestors. My great grandmother was ANN
ELIZABETH MOZO, daughter of JAMES and SUSAN MOZO of CAMDEN CO. She married DEMPSEY MILLER,
son of HENRY MILLER and DELILAH DRURY. DELILAH DRURY was the daughter of MILLS NEVEL
DRURY. I have not been able to find any of JAMES MOZO'S siblings or ancestors. However, I
have not been searching in CHARLTON CO. I have just found MOZOS listed in the cemetery
records. I find that there is a HERMAN L. MOZO buried in the PINEVEIW/BACHLOTT CEMETERY.
Date of death 21 Jan 1924. Also, buried there is VICTORIA L. MOZO b. 13 Feb 1856, d. 5
Sept 1900. Then there is a RONALD E.L. MOZO b. 1909, d. 1914 buried in TRADERS HILL
CEMETERY. IF anyone has any information about these people or the name MOZO,( or MAZO,
MAZZOE, or MOSSOE, I have been told that it has been spelled in these different ways, and
that there are Mazo's in McIntosh CO. who are descendents of JAMES MOZO) please get in
touch with me.

I am researching my father's family from Jesup, GA. His father was WALTER EUGENE
BLANTON, Sr. I have much info on this line. However, it is his mother's line that I need
my kind relatives from Jesup to help me with. My grandmother was WILLIE ALBERTA HARTLEY.
Her parents were JAMES IRA HARTLEY and GEORGIA BLOCKER. I have nothing on the HARTLEY
family and a little on the BLOCKER family. GEORGIA was born 01 APRIL 1885 and died Nov
1958 in Jesup with burial in the Jesup City Cemetery. This family lived in Tattnall Co.,
GA before going to Wayne Co. I am interested in learning more about these families,
especially who their parents and siblings were. Please e-mail me if you have information.

Mr. Wainwright, I'm looking for information regarding William EVERETT m. Tobitha
CAROLINE ABT 1845 in Sampson, NC. They had a child Henry EVERETT b 1860 in Clinch County,
GA. Specifically, I'm wondering if the above Henry EVERETT was Henry Daniel EVERETT m.
Annie L. KNOX 5 Sep 1888 in Bibb County, GA. CAROLINE was probably NOT William EVERETT's
wife's maiden name, but I don't really know, so am treating it as such until I know
better. Thanks for your consideration. I've enjoyed your site tremendously. Regards, JP

Hi Greg It seems as though we are related by both your paternal and maternal sides. I come from both Needham Rowland and Ezekiel Miller (my 4th great grandparents) through their children Robert Rowland married to Amy Miller on my father's side. I'm also a descendent of Andrew McClellan through his son Charles (my 3rd great grandfather) on my mother's side. When you have time, could you let me know if you have come across the name Susie Lee. She married Everett McClellan. She was born 3 May 1901, died 1975. It is believed by my grandmother that she was from Clinch Co. Also she had two brothers that I know of: Alex and Mose. This is all I know of her. Thank you for sharing so much information with us all. Christi Sweat Greene email: christigreene@aol.com
