Pasir Kingdom at East Borneo had no King. Because no body among all people of Pasir Kingdom want to be a King, even though the country was rich. The community’s leaders from every region of the Kingdom had to meet to solve that problem. “ We must looking for a man from other country who will be our King since no body want to be a King in this country” said the chairman of this meeting.

“ The man should has fulfill King’s conditions that we want; we have too many conditions for a man being a King that make no body could be able to,” said some member of the meeting.

“ Yes that is the problem; the man should be a special or super power man,” said the other.

“ That’s why I said that in this country no body will fulfill the conditions, then we must looking for a man from another country,” said chairman.

“ So what country do you think? Asked member.

“ The country from whom the man will come, must be a special country too; that is country at edge sky,” said the chairman. “ If you look at the sea, you will see that the sea will meet sky at the edge sky, that is it, country site at there,”

“ What is name of that country?” asked one of the members.

“ That is Edge Sky Country,” said Chairman.

“ How to go to that country?” asked some one

“ Of course we need a ship, a big ship to go there and also we need a brave captain and his brave sailors; do you agree to make a big ship for looking for a King?” asked chairman.

“ We agree for glory of Pasir Kingdom,” said all of the meeting members.

So the people of Pasir made a big ship for long journey to Edge Sky Country. They worked hard with happy feeling and hopping to have a King, a perfect King like God. Every body busy cutting trees in the forest to get woods for make a ship. Day after day they worked and then appeared a big ship site in the bank of a river. Now every body will be asked their contribution giving their food to stock in the ship. Then the ship was ready to go. But who will be captain and their crew’s member of that ship? No body want to be since they never heard Edge Sky Country; they were afraid to go on journey without ending.

There were a couple farmers lived at Sidorengas village; they had no son. They had a white buffalo name Okoup; since white buffalo was a rare animal so they were famous to have that animal and then that farmer call Kakah Okoup and his wife call Mamah Okoup. Every people in Pasir agreed chose Kakah Okoup being leader of the ship because he was brave man and also he already had many experience sailing the big ship; the crew’s members would be choose among the fisherman.

The day ship will go off, Kakah Okoup spoke in front of many people at the Harbor who wanting say good-bye. “ To day we want to fulfill our duty looking for our King in the Country of Edge Sky. Frankly that we are the member of ship don’t know where is that country but we have direction; we must to go for glory of our country. We are proud to be choose to do this duty and thank you very much.”

The ship went off to the sea sailed to edge of sky. Day by day until the food stock was finished, then Kakah Okoup commanded to go back to Pasir. He reported that he failed because the stock of food was short for a long time journey. So the stock of food was increased as much as a month journey. For the second time the ship went off. After sailed for three weeks the ship reached Edge Sky Country. Kakah Okoup went to the Palace faced the King.

“ We are the people of Pasir Kingdom greet and salute to the Majesty and also I want to propose to you asking your son to be our King,” said Kakah Okoup.

“ Why you ask my son to be your King? Is there no one among your people perfect to be a King?” asked the King.

“ Difficult being a King in our Country at Pasir since some one must fulfill the conditions being a King; even though every body could be able to, but no body fulfill the condition. But your people, specially your son, we believe was perfect to be our King.” Said Kakah Okoup.

“ We have already send my daughter to your country being your Queen; we hope you don’t mind, so you can go home and bring this good news to your people,” said the King.

“ Where is your daughter?” said Kakah Okoup

“ My daughter has gone to your country; I would like to give you some present being a clue that you have reach our country,” said the King. The King gave a watering can, a tray and a “gong”, instruments of gamelan music.

“ If you have found some thing strange in the ocean, please you must take it and bring it home,” said the King.

Kakah Okoup went home with his ship, after say good-bye to the King. Kakah Okoup though,“ how could people of Pasir want believe that King has send his daughter to Pasir to be our Queen?”

After sailing home for a couple of week, Kakah Okoup found a yellow bamboo floating in the ocean. He instructed a crew to take it home.

The ship anchor in the harbor of Pasir after sailed two months journey. Kakah Okoup faced chairman and reported result of his meeting with King of Edge Sky Country. He also showed them the present from the King. Every body belief what Kakah Okoup and his crew told.

The Chairman spoke,” Let us wait the ship from the country Edge Sky that will bring the Queen for us,”

But almost a year they waited, no one ship come to Pasir. That’s why Chairman decided to send a mission once again to the Country Edge Sky. Again the Kakah Okoup will lead this mission.

After sailed forty days, there were thunder and heavy rain at Pasir and then Pasir became floating. Every thing became wet, so it was difficult to make flare for cooking and so Mamah Okoup when she cooked rice. Mamah Okoup took a yellow bamboo that Kakah Okoup brought from the ocean. This bamboo was dry and so it could be burned to make flare. When Mamah Okoup was cutting that bamboo, an egg was come out from that bamboo made Mamah okoup surprising. She took the egg and searched it; that was a big egg. She put on the table; she called out her neighbor hood and told this news, then a mob of people came to her house to see a wonder egg from the bamboo.

“ Where the bamboo come from?” asked one of her neighbor.

“ My husband brought it from the ocean when he came home from his journey,” said Mamah Okoup.

After a while, people watched the egg cracking will give a birth; surprising a baby born from this egg, a girl.

Every body believes that baby will be their Queen as the King of Edge Sky Country saying about that. The baby must be daughter of the King.

Baby grew up with healthy condition. Since Mamah Okoup could not be able to give her milk, so Okoup’s milk, the white buffalo, could be use as her food. That’s why the people of Pasir are respect to buffalo that no body wants to eat its meat, up until now.

Kakah Okoup glad to see the daughter of King Edge Sky Country when he came back from his journey. He gave name “Puteri Petung” to the baby. Petung is mean bamboo.

The people of Pasir agree to crown Puteri Petung as Princess of Pasir and then she will be Queen of Pasir Kingdom in the future.
