| The fragile body of Hotaru is the host of three different personalities, the kind and caring girl, the powerful senshi and the evil Daimon Mistress 9. There is a battle going on between the girl and the Daimon, for the senshi seems to be asleep most of the time. Each seizure is in fact a new attack by Mistress 9, a new attempt to control Hotaru and the sleeping power of Saturn. It is amazing how strong Hotaru is, how often she wins the little battles inside her soul. But there are also moments when Hotaru loses and as soon as Mistress 9 takes over her body she does dreadful things without remembering them afterwards. Being under the control of Misterss 9, she is no longer Professor Tomoe's daughter, she is addressed as the Dark Messiah/ The Messiah of Silence, she wears the same strange clothes all the time and sits on a kind of throne surrounded by lots of stuffed toys. Sometimes Hotaru manages to fight back Mistress 9 and awakes in this strange room, wondering how she has got there... The clearest sign that Mistress 9 is in charge and not Hotaru are the red or purple glowing eyes and the purple light that sometimes surrounds Hotaru. Here are the most important of the little battles that took place in public: A boy from her class is hurt. Hotaru wants to help him but the other kids tell her to stay away from them because she has been the one who has hurt the boy. Hotaru is shocked - she doesn't know that this has been a little victory of Mistress 9. Mistress 9 senses the power of Chibi Usa's brooch. When Chibi Usa and Usagi are visiting Hotaru, she causes Hotaru to collapse, takes over control and grabs the brooch. This victory of Mistress 9 is a very short one because Hotaru recovers very fast. Mistress 9 usually very angry if her vessel (Hotaru) is threatened by a stupid underling (Daimon). Four times a Daimon comes too close to Hotaru when Mistress 9 is in charge and every time Hotaru's body starts to glow, the Daimon can't move any more. For instance once she even dries up the vines (or roots) of the Rose-Daimon Ubara. It gets even worse when sie is hit by a star from the Planetarium-Daimon U Chouten. The planetary symbol of Saturn glows on her forehead but the way she looks at the Daimon, the way she reacts looks as if Mistress 9 is in charge rather than Saturn. When Hotaru visits Chibi Usa the last time, it is visible that she is about to lose the war against Mistress 9. The Daimon feels that Chibi Usa has a pure heart, Hotaru is pushed aside and Mistress 9 tells Chibi Usa that she wants her pure heart. Chibi Usa is shocked and Hotaru needs a few moments to recover. Knowing that the evil person inside her is about to win, she asks Chibi Usa to stay away from her. It is Mistress 9, the Messiah of Silence who is sitting on the throne when Chibi Usa is lying unconscious on the altar in front of her. It is Mistress 9's hand that takes Chibi Usa's heart crystal and it is Mistress 9 who swallows it. She transforms to show her real self and form that on, Hotaru has no chance to come back, hasn't she.... Well, she is still inside the body of Mistress 9, locked away but she is not willing to give in. She knows that Chibi Usa has to get her heart crystal back, she knows that there are people who love her and who want to see her again and this knowledge makes her powerful, more powerful than the strongest Daimon of all - and now Sailorsaturn awakes too the sign of the Death Busters, the black star on Mistress 9's forehead breaks and beneath it, there glows the symbol of Sailorsaturn. Hotaru and Saturn together, they have come, they have seen and they have won. Bye bye, Mistress 9! HOME |
