Haruka and Michiru are the first of the Senshi from the Outer Solar System to meet Hotaru, when they give her and Chibi Usa a ride in their car. Right after they have found out that Hotaru is Professor Tomoe's daughter they suspect that she is a member of the Death  Busters. From that day on, they seem to watch her from distance and try to end the friendship between Hotaru and Chibi Usa.      They do not succeed and Michiru dreams of Hotaru being the Messiah of Silence. The more they know about the Death Busters the more they distrust Hotaru. Pluto also wants Chibi Usa to stay away from Hotaru, but when Hotaru gives the evil flower to Chibi Usa, it is Pluto who destroys the plant. Chibi  Usa tries her best to prove Hotaru's innocence, but Pluto doesn't seem to be convinced for she joins her attack with Uranus's and Neptune's, when they try to destroy Hotaru the first time. Knowing that this little girl is going to become the terrifying soldier of destruction, Uranus and Neptune don't hesitate to attack her a second time but this time Hotaru is saved by Ami.     After Hotaru's rebirth as a baby, Haruka and Michiru seem to forget all about their former hospitality and they take care of the infant. Michiru acts like any mother and she dreams about having a baby like Hotaru; although they have to bring the baby back to her father.     Next spring, Setsuna who has not shown any interest in baby Hotaru before, believes that they may need Saturn's power and borrows her from Professor Tomoe. At first glance this may seem to look like an action of cold logic, (Pluto tells the Uranus and Neptune that they may need Hotaru's powers) but the way Pluto carefully puts the baby into the flower bed before she supports the others, shows how much she cares for the cute child. Further she is desperate when the mirror paredories attack the baby.     After her sudden growth and proof of her powers, Setsuna, Michiru and Haruka want to watch over her, they move into a nice cottage where all four girls now live together just like a family. Hotaru's father is never shown again, Hotaru calls Haruka "papa" instead and Michiru and Setsuna "mama".    This proves that they need to have a very close relationship and that Hotaru trusts them completely. Setsuna cooks the meals and teaches little Hotaru and she is very proud that the little girl's mind grows as fast as her body. One day, when the three girls can't find Hotaru in the garden, they are very  worried and look everywhere for her. Finally they find her sitting in a dark room simulating the birth of the cosmos. Her visions frighten the little girl and Haruka comforts her. It seems as if they are more concerned about her well being than about Saturn's possible awakening.    After it has finally happened and Saturn is ready to join the team, they all appear at the Hikawa Shrine to support the Senshi of the Inner Solar System and when Saturn commands them to give their power to Sailormoon, even Uranus and Neptune obey...     Neptune and Uranus decide to face Galaxia on their own, but Saturn and Pluto won't let them do so. They attack Galaxia together and fail; Saturn is killed by Uranus and Neptune, who do so without any sign of regret. Nevertheless they all are together again after Chaos has been defeated and they sit in Haruka's car talking about wishes and shooting stars. They act as if they still are a family and live together.
