I have often heard arguments from people that the ELRTS Project in Bangalore is costly. Their argument basically premises the conclusion on the few transit systems India has. However, there is much more than what meets the eye. Read below an illustration which is typical of our transit systems.
The picture shown below is real, not fiction. People are travelling in inhuman conditions daily in our cities. The passenger capacity for the train shown below would be no less than 18-20/sq.m. There can be no comparison of this with what is proposed for Bangalore. What is planned for Bangalore is streets ahead. Naturally, the system does not come cheap.
