| There isn't a lot of Daria slash out there. If I remember correctly, Fanfiction.net used to host "Ragged Denim" which was one of the first Daria slash fics. It's not there anymore, but I remember it. Anyway, on with our story (now that you know its Slash) The main problem with this story is its out-of-characterness. I'm not a canon girl when it comes to parings, but when it comes to story line, I love canon. Not a big AU fan. Anyway, it starts out at a party being thrown at Daria's house (because, you know, its very likely she would throw one, even if it is with Quinn). Tom is there, looking depressed, and Trent tries to help him be...undepressed looking? I guess. As we continue, (which isnt' very far, this story is short), Daria and Jane speculate the whereabouts of Tom's sadness. It's never really revealed why he is sad. But I guess I would be sad too if I were rich. Tom wanders outside, Trent follows, there are some bushes...you get the idea. A kiss. Wow, I'm actually not reviewing hentai for once. Tom freaks, runs, Trent runs after him, tells Tom to stay at his house. The fic closes with Trent professing his love. Maybe it's just me who can't do it, but I can't say I love you to someone who has dated my sister and her friend and whom I don't really know. As Trent says this, Tom's eyes get wide and scared...and then a surprise twist: There's a car coming! When were they in the street? Or was it a drunk driver? Or is it magic? @_@ doo do doo do... Anyway, for sappy ending rating, Tom pushes Trent out of the way, so it becomes obvious that Tom is the one hit. Well, not really obvious. I had to read it over about 5 times before I got it. Damn that thinking thing. Over-all Plot: 2/5 Original...but...Tom and Trent???????? Humor/Sadness: 3/5 The fic over all is depressing. ;P Writing Style: 1/5 Again, Tom and Trent, but the style was lacking. SMUT Level: 2/5? Maybe. There was kissing, but that was it. I'm not sure. I would rate it one, but it was slash...ne... Cherry-O Says: Over all, a good idea gone bad. I mean, Slash in Daria is fine. But Tom Sloan and Trent Lane? It's like putting an apple an orange together and expecting to get grape juice. Not that I don't love Tom OR Trent for that matter. I usually support out-of-canon relationships. But this was just a little too out for me. And I don't mean out of the closet! Cherry-O out! (and not from the closet!) |
