Sailor Moon: Valley of the Wildflowers
By Cherry-o - 1/26/01
After a lot of looking and searching for this fic, I finally found it. If you've never read Valley of the Wildflowers, I suggest that you do. Though if you are just now getting to read it, I'm sorry. O_o no offense. It's just that now the page it's hosted at has a lot less features. No more art work, the house designs are no longer up, the Jersy Turnpike sign is not up, and most of all what I miss is the back ground of Astreal's falling feathers.

Now, you may be asking yourself, why is Cherry-O reviewing something she actually likes? Well, actually, I have a reasonable explination for it. So here goes.

In the early days of SM fanfics, it was hard to find anything that you really wanted to read. Most of the stuff was self-centered crap. Valley of the Wildflowers was different.

It's a story that starts around the time when Nephrite was dying in the Anime. Then it completely changes the story and continues for four books. It's a long story, not for the faint of attention span. But now here comes the review.

I love this story. BUT O_O Nowadays, I wouldn't give a story like this a second glance. All the changes in character, all the angels running around, the stories of old...it is VERY confusing and VERY overwhelming.

At the time, it was wonderful.

These days, I've come to appreciate things that are canon, and in character. But I thought I would give you an example to go off of here. It's a story I love...I cry thinking about it. But now, if you showed me and asked me to read it? I'd blow you off. O_o

Actual Plot: 5/5  Good luck following it though

Humor/Sadness: 4/5 I think I remember crying when Astreal..O_O nm ^^;;;

Writing Style: 2/5 Why so low? Well, in retrospect, or maybe just the way I feel now, there are way too many chapters. And each other them is at least 3 megs long. Thats a lot of reading. Overwhelming, to be redundant.

SMUT Level: ?/5 This is mostly because I forget O_O It's been a while, sorry, I have bad memory.

Cherry-O says: This is a story I hold as a STANDARD. Mostly for the writing style the authors used (I actually don't recal getting to book four.) If everyone had this sytle in at least one paragraoh, it would be grand. I thought I would give an example of what I think is good. And yet, as I said, if I were to read it now as something I just came across today, I'd say "Bloody hell, not another alternate timeline."
