IIUM is today one of the most talked-about institutions in the Islamic world. This should not surprise anyone who has kept in touch with the university’s development. Right from its inception, IIUM has spared no effort to ensure that it provides the best tertiary education possible in all branches of knowledge.

Currently, IIUM is home to 15,000 students and 3,000 teaching and administrative staff members. Many of the students and members of the academic staff are expatriate. In all, about 100 countries are represented. The Rector of IIUM is Professor Kamal Hassan:

My Faculty

Last March 2004, I started came to IIUM Gombak. Here, I'm taking Bachelor of Mathematical Science under Kulliyyah of Science.Let me introduce to all of you, my faculty:

Kulliyyah of Science

The Kulliyyah of Science, began its operations in the year 2002. It offers studies in various pure and applied branches of the natural sciences.

Department

Presently, there are three departments :

• Department of Biotechnology
• Department of Biomedical Science
• Department of Computational and Theoretical Sciences

In the second phase of its development, two more departments will be established, namely :

• Department of Physical Sciences

• Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies
