Elsa Schuman

The Schuman family hail from Sieger lands in south Eisen. They are free farmers, working their plot of land independently, and good Vaticines in a largely Objectionist area.

Elsa had three older brothers; the War of the Cross took all three. The eldest of them, Herman, suggested to his parents before he left for the front for the last time, that one of the family should train up as an officer. By the time the money was scraped together, Elsa was the one who was the right age to be sent to the academy. And in her turn, she too went to war.

War was hard; the peace was worse. First, the Imperator betrayed them by handing their lands over to the Castillians. Then, the Church betrayed them by not stopping that. Finally, their own baron betrayed them when he sent men to forcibly salt the Schuman's fields, rendering them useless and barren.

When the word got out that there was work in Mondavi lands under Sieger's banner, Elsa spat on the offer. She sure as hell wasn't going to march under the flag of the man who'd destroyed her home. But if there was work in Mondavi lands, maybe there was work elsewhere. Shouldering her weapons, she left for Vodacce to sell her sword there, sending money home as she could.

Her latest job ended on Caligari Island, where she quickly found employment as a bodyguard to Lady Gianina Donati. She has escorted Lady Donati home, and has happily accepted an offer of further employment with the family.
