Lucia Donati

Donna Lucia Donati
Lucia is so happy. She thought she might never get married! She was 26 and an old maid when Bernardo Donati married her. He loves her, and she is absolutely grateful for it.

Lucia is plain, a little stout, and only a half-blooded Witch. She's her father's daughter by a courtesan, legitimized once her Sorte abilities were determined. She was no great catch by most measures: not beautiful, not powerful, and with few good connections. It looked like she was going to spend the rest of her days as a very old lady-in-waiting to Donna Morena, the Countess Barozzi.

She does have, however, a sweet disposition and a laugh that her husband likes to compare to silver bells. He heard her laugh, softly, at something Father Turri mispronounced during one of his lackluster sermons, and immediately resolved to get to know the lady better. When it turned out she was unmarried, he courted her discreetly and got to like her better and better, until they were both thoroughly besotted with each other. Donna Morena, delighted that Lucia had found someone, asked Don Antonio to allow the marriage; Antonio was disgruntled that Bernardo was not marrying to further the family's interests in a more solid fashion, but he wasn't going to refuse the countess's direct request.

Lucia is pregant with a boy-child. She's overjoyed at the prospect of becoming a mother, and isn't blind to the fact that the boy is right now the best candidate for Lord Donati when Antonio passes away. She still harbors some concerns about Bernardo, though, which she will surely bring to the attention of his closest brother Angelo soon, now that Angelo has returned from Mondavi Island.

Lucia's most important Sorte strand is the Cups strand to her husband.
