The Prophecy of N'Tira Farseer
The Legend of N'Tira Farseer Somewhere between one and two thousand years ago, it became obvious that fewer elves were being born than had been in the past in the communities of the N'ndasha Tel'Quessir. The dead were being replaced, but communities no longer seemed to grow. With rumors coming down from across the sea of wild, violent humanoids spreading like wildfire, the elders of the Houses were concerned. What could be done? They prayed to the Seldarine for guidance, for wisdom so that they might act to best preserve themselves and once again grow strong. The elven gods sent a Prophecy down to the world. It was accepted by a young but wise priestess named N'Tira. The gods, however, felt their children were not yet ready to hear their Message, so they sent a Dark Wind to chase the Farseer so she could not tell it to others. She could not deliver the Prophecy until she had dispelled the Wind, and the gods ensured that she would not die until she had done this. When the Farseer had finally discovered how to rid herself of the Dark Wind, the world would be ready to hear the Prophecy. N'Tira Farseer runs on to this day, carrying a Message of hope for all elves. We await the day she will outwit the Dark Wind and return to us, telling us how we may make our world as it once was. Recent Events About two years ago, two humans and a half-elf made their way to StarTower. One of the humans, a female warrior past her prime named Kvelti, claimed to be possessed by the soul of an ancient elf named N'Tira. The half-elf, a deformed woman called Morgan One-Arm, had actually been born in StarTower and had learnt the Prophet's name as a girl. Proclaiming herself the Scribe of the Prophecy, she led the human into the presence of the most wise and venerable members of the clergy, so that they might determine if the Farseer truly had returned. The human was seen to speak in learned dialects of elvish and answer obscure questions on elvish theology that no human (or half-elven bastard) should have known. When "possessed" by N'Tira, she could also speak on the current events of a millennia and a half ago, accurately naming historical figures and describing them as if she had known them. Magical divinations did not reveal any trickery. When not possessed by N'Tira, the human Kvelti proved singularly obnoxious and coarse, expressing an extreme desire to be rid of the spirit of the Prophet. The specter was finally convinced to inhabit the body of one of N'Tira's descendants, a young priestess of the Moonbow named Tella. The humans and half-elf left, much to everyone's satisfaction. The spirit is fairly well-established as that of N'Tira Farseer, and the words she speaks are certainly sent from some god. The debate now rages: which one? The Prophecy of N'Tira Farseer The world will never be as it once was. There is no way to prevent the extinction of our kind. We are too infertile to produce children to carry the race on to the future. Within generations, there will be no more elves. If you do nothing, you will see the humans die. They do not know how to live in this world, and that will destroy them. You will have a few golden years to reclaim your world before you, too, are lost to the Void. If you heed this Prophecy, your spirit will live on. The Prophecy is this: you must join with humans to produce a new race neither elven nor human. Teach them your ways and your wisdom. They will carry on our great tradition for years to come, long after we are all dust. They can teach the humans how to live so that the world is not destroyed. For you see, humans are people too. Only through synthesis and change does the world survive. So it will be for our people, for theirs, and for the people we can create together.
