The illuminated border on this piece follows the efforts of Sir Malcolm to complete a scroll.

Upper left:
Sir Malcolm seeks inspiration in his many books but it takes the appearance of an angel to enlighten him properly. On the banner the angel holds are the words "modo fac" which is "just do it" in Latin.

Middle left:
Titivillus sneaks up on Sir Malcolm as he is working. The image used for the demon is right out of the Bedford Hours.

Underneath in border:
Another angel appears and holds Titivillus so Sir Malcolm can work in peace

Bottom left:
Hard at work inside on a beautiful day, Sir Malcolm's friends arrive to see if he wants to "come out and play" :-)

Bottom center:
a bunny (main charge in Malcolm's device) nibbles at the foliage

Bottom right:
Having found inspiration, survived Titivillus, put off until another day his friends efforts to distract him ... Sir Malcolm finally sets to work.

Upper right:
for his efforts and skill Their Majesties award him the Fleur d'AEthelmearc
