Ambulance Service Victoria

There is only one Emergency Ambulance Service in Victoria, it consists of -

Rural Ambulance Victoria
&
Metropolitan Ambulance Service

*Regional Victoria Welcomes New Air Ambulance*
Starting from Sunday the 1st of July a 24 hour Air Ambulance service will begin, for Central Victoria. The helicopter that is being used is a Bell 412, and is based in Bendigo.

This Air Ambulance has been heard on The Rural Ambulance Radio Network using the callsign, "HEMS 3"

There are patient transport vehicles, which are used in non urgent cases, in order to ferry people from hospital to hospital (which is more common in the country)..
I'm not sure but I think that many of these are privately owned.
*Atleast one of these companies makes use of the SMR Network*

November 2002 - I was speaking to the driver one of these medical transport vehicles, he said their fleet use GSM Mobile phones only.  Matthew

Both ambulance networks basically have the same radio control structure, but their codes can differ.
