January 2002
The "online" is a Senior Sergeant - I have heard the "online" referred to as a 265
Boarder stations also have UHF radios so they can communicate across state boundaries.
November 22nd 2001 - The Police frequency for the Albury area and up the Murray to Balranald is 468.350MHz - thanks Tim
November 14th 2001 - Civilian Heard on UHF Police Frequency. I was only able to hear the end of this radio traffic but from what I heard it appeared a Public Servant who was following a Stolen Serial - he had access to the Victoria Police Radio Network, and was relaying information to Units via a UHF radio, on J & K Districts, channels 65 & 72.
I am very interested as are others to hear more information about this situation... if you have any further to add please contact me.
Transport 299 & 236 heard on M District - they are Police Buses... owned or on hire?... but they are fitted out with Radio Communications equipment.
January 2002
The buses mentioned in November are Victoria Police buses, they are painted in Police colours and are used to transport the bands around the country.
In case some people are not aware, TMU's are now aligned with Shire/Council boundaries
November 2001
AIS = MCU - Major Collision Unit
Transport 299 - Victoria Police Bus - CONFIRMED
Transport 236 Also appears to be another Police Bus
FRU - Force Response Units
RRU - Regional Response Units
July 2001
Heard quite a few 680 TMU units of late - most working in conjunction with Booze Buses.
Also have heard Prison Canine 201 - which is sometimes used by the Police in the Ararat area.
Training Units have also been heard of late - obviously training our "new recruits" :-) - no this is not a political punt.
I have also experienced and have been told by others that the frequencies I have supplied for the Western Highway have been changed - I have also heard 164.035MHz & 163.635MHz between Nhill and the Stawell side of Ararat. - I need some assistance here in gathering a more up to date set.
March 2001
Unmarked 690 units still being used - for those who are interested.
December 2000
Ballarat
repeater 163.8250MHz is on Mt. Blackwood
New callsigns heard: Station 901 - eg. Footscray 901 - they are
booths located in the CBD area (usually).
Transport 213 - not sure, but must be either a mobile office /
holding cells and or a truck or similar used to transport them.
October 2000
VKC Ballarat new repeater, 163.825 - unsure of location able to hear from Geelong alright, I'm leaning towards Mt. Anakie
TMU 69* units, they are part of the
regional task force (i think) there are 2 or 3 working out of
Corio and I have also heard some working out of Dandenong. The
Corio units have been spotted on the Westgate Freeway, as well as
the Midland Highway.
I would appreciate any further information.
Mt. Blackwood - M District is no longer 163.6750, it is now 163.6125
Gnarwarre - New repeater to cover from Merideth to Geelong, 163.9125
468.1250 - I'm pleased to say that I
have finally solved the big question, where the Ballarat Channel
12 UHF repeaters are located.
There is one located on Mt. Buninyong and another on Mt. Macedon.
There is also another channel 12 repeater on Mt. Hollowbank, but
I haven't had any confirmation that it is in use.
I have also had some information regarding TMU & CIU units.
There are said to be Ballarat TMU units (usually one unit) working out of Maryborough. I have also been told that a Moorabool TMU unit can be heard on M district or some times J & K districts, most days. There isn't a Moorabool station, I suspect the unit is from Corio or Ballarat (I'm leaning to Ballarat).
There is also a CIU department due to open up Bacchus Marsh in the not to distant future.
I can also confirm that the Police Air Wing are still using 131.600MHz.
If you can contribute to this page or any others, please e-mail me.
