My main interests:
|
My main interests includes the study of morphology, biology, and
behaviour of the adult scarab beetles. The project work is an attempt
to clarify the phylogeny of the flightless, dessert dwelling genus Pachysoma
(Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeini) using genetic techniques. My results will
be compared to the today standing phylogenetic hypothesis based on the
morphology of adults. I started my work as a member of the University
of Pretoria Scarab Research Group in January 2001 and will be working
on this for at least two years.
Besides Scarabs some of my other interests include sport with
watching rugby and scoring cricket falling into the top two. I am an avid
traveler having seen most of South Africa (with Namibia and Zimbabwe),
as well as some of Europe and South East Asia. I love to watch birds and
animals and you will find me anywhere, where you can pitch a tent to relax
and learn.
