PICKING UP THE PIECES
© Michaela

Silent thoughts
silent dreams and
silent hopes.
They are quickly diminished
the moment I said yes to being yours.

You told me what you
were doing was right,
that I'd see your way
maybe not now, nor tomorrow
but some day.

I'm now alone
left to pick up the pieces
slowly rebuild.
Now so vulnerable.
I won't ever truely trust another.

Once bitten
I will never allow
to be be twice shy.
Don't want you in my life no more.
Even as friends, certainly not lovers.

Slowly rebuilding
so much work ahead of me
picking up the pieces
what a disaster
Beginning my life from scratch.
