WISHFUL HOPE ...
© Michaela

Off to fight the big bad man.
Off to join the war.
Off to serve my country.
Off to become a hero.
Off to seek justice for injustices faced.

I don't want to see you scarred for life by what you see and hear,
I doubt that I could handle it, if you changed too much as I fear.
I don't want to see you hurt, or even worse, dead.
Placed six feet under ground, to early for your time.
What good would that really serve?
If I'm without the person I care enough to love and call my friend.

I shall wish upon a star,
On a clear night.
I shall wish in my dreams,
That you'll be alright.
I shall wish on the beach,
As the surf breaks.

Every where I roam,
Every second I breathe,
I'll do nothing but wish,
From the moment you leave,
For your safe return,
Back home to me and those others left behind.

I wish you would re-consider,
Of going to war with your fellow men.
Please won't you try thinking further down the track,
Not just the short-term.
