The SEGPA
The sections of Adapted General Education and Professional Training are pedagogical units which cater for classes of 16 youngsters that have come across difficulties preventing them from pursuing a normal course of studies. The SEGPA 's function is to give those pupils it takes in hand a proper training towards a fruitful job, through individual guidance, orientation in choices, information on trades, on the channels leading to them and the setting up of a personal project. Pupils join the SEGPA at the age of 12 and their courses will extend over 4 years: cycle of adaptation (1st form), central cycle (2nd and 3rd forms), cycle of orientation (4th form).
The pupils can then move to a two-years training period (either in a CFA-which is a vocational training- or in a Technical High School). The outcome of which is a CAP (Certificate of Professional Ability). In the present year, the SEGPA of the Tarterêts offers training in painting, glaziery, ground covering, printing, document duplicating, cookery, restaurant work (catering and diner service) and car engineering.
