A proper Malfoy wife is proficient in the art of silence. She knows when to speak and when to smile politely and plot revenge. She also understands that silence is sometimes necessary to spare herself pain. That silence is almost always needed because of an improper Malfoy husband or son.

In my case, it was both.

I would have to have been naïve not to realize what they do when he comes to visit. If there is one thing that Narcissa Malfoy is not, it is naïve. As I have been both a student and a bored housewife in my life, I know very well that few potions take that long at a stretch before they are left to simmer or set.

I also know, however, to keep my peace on business in which I do not belong, so I smile politely when the three of them come back upstairs.
