Author's notes: 400 words on Jin and Touya for Flamika for the lyrics meme. Oh, and it's a non-Irish Jin, 'cause I know you like that.

At moments like this, Touya fancies himself a scholar. Not of any classical subject, or even of a subject that most other people would find interesting. But, oh, they would be fascinated if they could see the subject of his study right now.

In his mental record, he adds the notation, "autumn breeze."

He keeps these moments private, just watching Jin and remembering the details. This is how he knows that Jin's favorite human food is potato chips, and that his favorite color is a particular shade of sky blue, even though Jin only mentioned it once, in passing.

The sky is that color right now, and he is watching Jin hover in it. The weather is getting cooler, but the sun warms them just enough. A slight breeze sweeps by occasionally, making Jin smile a little.

Touya likes that smile. It makes him look calm and serene, a personification of that breeze.

His stomach growls loudly, then, reminding him that it's been a couple of days since they've eaten, but he is loathe to disturb the moment. Jin is so rarely at peace, and Touya's hunger can wait.

It seems, though, that Jin heard him, because they are suddenly nose to nose. He stumbles back, and Jin laughs in delight.

"Thinking so hard you forgot to eat again?" Jin asks.

Touya frowns. "We ran out of food two days ago. I haven't found anything around here that's fit to eat."

"I can take care of that."

And he finds himself swept off his feet. Jin is carrying him somewhere, and it is the first time that Touya has ever flown. The wind rushes past them, bitingly cold. When they stop, he finds that Jin has brough him to a small grove of wild fruit trees. His stomach growls again as Jin sets him carefully on his feet.

"Here, fill this up. I'll see if I can find us a rabbit or something."

Touya accepts Jin's pack and begins to fill it. His skin still tingles where Jin's arms were wrapped around him, and he smiles to himself.

Jin cooks a fat rabbit for dinner, and he gives most of it to Touya. His own stomach can wait. It's worth the emptiness to be able to sit across the fire from Touya, see his smile and catch those little bits of his scent, cool and crisp like an autumn breeze.
