Author's notes: This ended up waaaaaay less smutty and a bit shorter than I'd intended, but Yusuke just had to go and get all romantical.

Yusuke groaned and spritzed himself with his water sprayer again, misting his bare arms, chest, and legs. "It's not even July yet. How can it be so damned hot already?" he whined.

"You could go back in the apartment and turn on the air conditioner, you know," Kurama advised. He was situated across from Yusuke in their new hammock, tucked into a shady part of his garden, with a book in one hand and a glass of iced tea in the other. His left foot was on the ground, pushing to rock the hammock gently.

"But you'll still be here." He pouted sexily and stroked Kurama's bare calf. "Come in with me?"

"Yusuke..."

"Fine..." He sighed dramatically and slumped down. His left foot rubbed against Kurama's thigh with the sway of the hammock, and a wicked gleam entered his eye. He moved his foot so it rested against the inside of Kurama's knee, then he slowly extended his leg.

Halfway to his goal, Kurama caught his foot with a cold hand. "I'm not going to get any peace now, am I?" he asked, eyes still on his book, thumb massaging the sole of Yusuke's foot. His iced tea sat snugly between his legs.

"Not really. I like being the center of your attention."

They both paused at the flat honesty of the statement. Kurama closed his book and dropped it to the ground, eyes locked on Yusuke. "And I like very much to be the center of yours."

Taking care not to upset his tea or the hammock, Kurama pushed himself up and forward so he could stretch out on top of Yusuke. He set his glass on a low, flat rock that Yusuke had suggested adding for just such a purpose. As they sank into a slow, lingering kiss, a cool breeze finally kicked up and stirred the stuffy air; Yusuke would've smiled if his mouth hadn't been busy.

He moaned a little when Kurama's kisses trailed across his jaw and down his neck, and he let his hands slip past the waistband of Kurama's shorts so he could untuck his t-shirt.

"You always feel so perfect," Yusuke said softly. His breath caught when Kurama lifted his head and met his gaze. There was something raw in his eyes.

"You make me feel perfect. When you look at me, you have such total love and trust in your eyes—it seems like I could never live up to it, even as I feel like I have. It makes me want never to disappoint you in any way."

"Damn, I love you." Yusuke couldn't find anything else to say, so he kissed Kurama again.

After a few minutes, the sweetness began to melt into passion again, like sugar dissolving into a freshly boiled pitcher of tea. Their hands started wandering, and Kurama managed to get them undressed without incident. Finally getting skin to skin was a relief, and Yusuke relished the strength of his lover's body, the gentleness of the fingers preparing him, the tenderness in the soft voice by his ear.

Kurama made love to him slowly, and when it was over, Yusuke realized that the temperature had dropped from the thick clouds that had passed before the sun. They had only rested for a minute before Yusuke stifled a little laugh.

"Yes?"

"I hope you know I hate you sometimes," Yusuke said teasingly.

"Really?"

"Yes. If I'd started that, we would've fallen out of the damn hammock."

"Mm."

Yusuke sighed and lazily pushed off against the ground with his right foot, starting the hammock swaying gently again. His hands rubbed Kurama's back soothingly. "Still glad we bought it, though."

"A worthwhile investment, certainly."

"I really do love you, you know."

Kurama kissed his shoulder. "I know. I love you, too, Yusuke."

A steady, cooling rain began to fall, and Yusuke felt a peace settle in his heart. He was getting soaked, and they were going to stick together soon if they didn't move, but he couldn't think of anywhere else that he would want to be.
