This is an internet rogramming course which is designed to let the student work at an individual pace. This is designed to be a one semester course and will cover the basics of internet programming. Those students who work quickly through the basic steps of programming will have opportunity to do more advanced work. In-Class Work Although a student may work at his or her own pace, it is expected that the student will be in class and working every day. Grades will be based on attendance, daily achievement and final projects. A test will be given at the end of the first term and a large project will be required at the end of the second term. A special note concerning the final project - it is not something which can be completed in a single day, so don't procrastinate! Behavior This class is not a required class, and participation is a privilege. A student is expected to be on the best of behavior at all times. Wasting this opportunity is not an option, especially since this is a time for learning and not goofing off. As we are dealing with expensive equipment, no food or drink is allowed. School rules are enforced and conduct regarding the internet must be appropriate. Violation of classroom rules may result in loss of class privileges for the student. Attendance Attendance is a must. When a course is designed to be conducted at a student's own pace, it is expected that the student will put forth time and effort to complete it. All absences will need to be excused and extra time put in at home or after school to make the effort complete. Late Work There are only two assignments which have time constraints. The first is the test at the end of the first term. By the time the test is given, it is expected that the student will have completed the introduction and basic programming. The test must be completed at school and within the last two weeks of the term. A final deadline will be given later. As to the last term, a final project must be completed and handed in approximately two weeks before the end of the term. The student will be given opportunity to share the web pages with the class and grading will take place suring that block of time. Points will be lost for late work. Grades One thousand points will be awarded each term. If a student is in class and working with full effort every day, the student will pass the course. Grades will be based on the following point breakdowns:
First and second term points are awarded slightly differently. Here is how points will be awarded:
