Subject: "Pumpkin" Screening Invitation
Good afternoon. Below, and attached, is the "Pumpkin" free screening
invitation, as discussed. I would welcome you sharing this with as
many people in Los Angeles as you feel appropriate.
Please note the movie theatre/screening rooms obviously have a maximum
audience capacity, which is why it's important that all attendees
RSVP, as noted on the invitation. We will closely monitor both the
RSVP telephone line and the email address so we don't exceed capacity.
Thank you once again for your assistance and efforts with "Pumpkin."
It's our hope the community will enjoy, be entertained and embrace the
film.
Please call with comments or questions.

Dear Friend:
On behalf of United Artists, we would like to cordially invite you and
one guest to a complimentary, private screening of the new movie
PUMPKIN, prior to its release in movie theatres on June 28th.
PUMPKIN is the story of a college sorority student (Christina Ricci)
who volunteers at The Challenged Games, a Special Olympics-type event
for those with mental and/or physical disabilities. She meets Pumpkin
(Hank Harris),
a wheelchair-user and athlete and soon enough, Ricci finds herself falling
in love with him - and vice versa - much to the shock of her schoolmates.
The movie is a hilarious, satirical send-up of collegiate Greek life
and of people's reaction to those who are "different."
Simultaneously, it's a moving and sincere story about people letting
their desire for acceptance override their real feelings. The film
deals with two people from completely different worlds who fall in
love. It also portrays a journey of
self-discovery by a young woman whose love for an individual with mental
and
physical disabilities forces her to awaken to the hypocrisy around her,
and
to find courage, strength and humanity within herself that she never knew
existed.
The following two free screenings of PUMPKIN are being held
exclusively in Los Angeles for persons with disabilities, advocates,
counselors, medical staff, opinion makers, elected officials and
others in the community.
All attendees must RSVP either via email: pumpkinfreemovie@aol.com or
by phone: 323/692-7258. The screenings are as follows:
Tuesday, May 28th 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29th 7:30
p.m.
Laemmle's Fairfax Theatre Todd AO West Screening
Room
Beverly Blvd. at Fairfax 3000 West Olympic Blvd.,
Bldg. 1
West Hollywood West Los Angeles
Thank you. We look forward to seeing you at PUMPKIN.
Note: The State Independent Living Council is forwarding this
invitation as part of the SILC's public information and education
campaign. We have not viewed this movie or surveyed the theaters
where it will be shown. Thus we
cannot endorse the film or its treatment of the subject matter, or tell
you
if the preview will be held in a place or manner that is accessible to
people with all types of disabilities. Since this is an invitation-only
screening, you are encouraged to ask appropriate questions about
accessibility and accommodations when you call 323/692-7258 for
reservations.
